Sweden has approved an environmental protection office for its environment, the country’s environmental protection agency said Wednesday.
The decision came after an initial delay of three months.
The office was created by the country in 2015 to protect public health and the environment from pollutants, but has come under criticism for a lack of leadership.
The new position will oversee the countrys environmental protection policies, with an emphasis on the protection of the environment.
The environment ministry said the position was created to be independent of any cabinet, but was also expected to promote environmental protection as a priority.
